Social Media Day 2012

Hey there! This would be my second post for the week, just in time for the Social Media Day 2012.

In my hometown Davao City, it will be held today (like, 4:00pm onwards) on MyFlexOffice, 3rd Floor KS Bldg. Sta. Ana Ave. (Infront of Penongs), Davao City. I need to shell out Php100.00 for the snacks and freebies.

But what is really this so-called Social Media Day?

“Social Media Day is an annual international event on June 30 that recognizes the digital revolution happening around the world. This is a global celebration of the technological advancements that have given so much development to the connected generation. This holiday is founded by Mashable, the “largest independent news source dedicated to covering digital culture, social media and technology”. They have more than 20 million monthly unique visitors and 4 million social media followers. It has also been recognized as one of the most engaged online news communities, as some of their content are syndicated to top news outfits such as ABC News, CNN, Metro and Yahoo News.”

For more inquiries, check out their RSVP page in Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/events/228560823931718/

PS: I will be posting a sensible thing sometime within the weekend, if time would permit. Good luck to my college life then!

Uniquely Davao: Taxis

Hey! I’ve missed blogging for a month or so, and I will now be sharing about what I saw recently, about Davao City’s taxicabs.

Davao is now home to the country’s friendliest taxi drivers, notable for returning their change up to the nearest cent. Taxicabs here are mostly using the white base color, but it was in late 2008 or 2009 that colored taxicabs were first used.

Maligaya Taxi, one of the largest taxi companies in Davao in fleet number, used  yellow colored taxis to their fleet, making them uniquely colored. Followed suit are other company taxi operators (although some still have white as a base color and only differ in the color of the logo and/or art);

  • Krizia Taxi (grey base color for newer models of Toyota Vios)
  • Holiday Taxi (white base color, black and yellow checkered logo)
  • Mabuhay Taxi (white base color, red scripted text); Mabuhay Black Taxi (black base color, yellow text, with green LED scrollers on top)
  • Madayaw Taxi (violet base color)
  • Blue Taxi (blue base color, obviously)
  • City Orange Cab (orange base color)
  • Ma-ro Taxi (white and green base color)
  • STC Taxi (white base color, black and yellow prints)

There are actually other taxi brands not mentioned and mind you, it may catch your attention someday.
